Veneers and Crowns

Crowns are available in a wide range of materials. Crowns can be made of all ceramic or a combination of metal and ceramic. The materials available now can combine the best aspects to produce strength without compromising on the appearance. Many systems are available and we will choose the one that meets your clinical and aesthetic needs the most.

Veneers are thin layers of ceramic that are bonded to the surface of teeth. They have the advantage that less tooth preparation is required than for a crown. Again many systems are available and the best one for you will be used.

Veneers largely cover the outer visible surface of your tooth whereas a crown covers the whole tooth. Crowns are useful where a lot of tooth has been lost to decay. Your dentist would advise you which is the most suitable.

Crowns and/or veneers can be used to mask discoloured teeth, change the size and shape of teeth or change the position of teeth. They can be used to close gaps and fill out the “buccal corridor “ to give the appearance of a wider /fuller smile.

Crowns and veneers can be made to look very natural and lifelike by making their edges translucent and matching the anatomy colour and texture of your own teeth if required.

There are many different types of crown and veneer systems to choose from. Each will have certain advantages in a given situation. By offering a wide range of options we can match the best solution for each patient.

Our most popular choices for the anterior teeth are Empress and Procera both of which provide fantastic aesthetics without compromising on strength. Posteriorly Procera and zirconia crowns are frequently used again for strength and aesthetics.
