Impressions are taken of your teeth and plastic trays are made to fit over your teeth. These are filled with a whitening gel and worn for up to 14 nights to produce maximum whitening. At home systems are effective if the trays are worn consistently at night. It is much more effective than any over the counter products available in the UK. This is the best option where the discolouration is not severe and where patients want whiter teeth rather than the whitest possible.Periodically the trays can be worn with gel for a few nights to top up the colour.

BriteSmile is an in surgery whitening system which is available at selected practices only.The treatment was developed by a former NASA scientist. Clinical tests have shown the treatment to be both effective and safe. Improvements of up to 8 shades can be achieved with darker teeth showing the biggest improvements. BriteSmile produces great results in a short time which makes it very popular with many patients.

For some patients we use a combination approach. It is particularly useful for patients who have darker teeth or who want to achieve and maintain the whitest possible smile. It is also effective in cases such as tetracycline staining. A tailored program is designed for each patient in which in surgery and at home techniques are used and different combination of agents. The combination of the at home and in surgery processes produces the maximum possible result. Agents used with the system minimise any sensitivity. Periodically patients can maintain the result by wearing the trays with gel in them for an occasional night.
